A 14-year-old Akron boy was charged in connection to the robbery of a cell phone at gunpoint Thursday morning in Akron's Kenmore neighborhood, with multiple guns found in his residence, according to the Akron Police Department.
According to police, officers were flagged down shortly before noon Thursday in the 1200 block of Kenmore Boulevard about a robbery. A man told police he arranged to sell a phone on Facebook Marketplace and met a would-be buyer, who brandished a handgun, took the phone and fled on foot.
Officers said they "quickly developed a person of interest based on the information they gathered," which led them to a home in the 2200 block of 22nd Street SW. They detained and charged a 14-year-old boy in connection to the robbery.
Police said that during a search inside the residence, officers found the cell phone, two AK-47-style rifles and a 9mm handgun.
