Peoria police on Thursday arrested a suspect in a fatal September shooting.
Domonicue D. Linwood, 24, was held on a charge of first-degree murder.
At about 12:10 p.m. Thursday, officers initiated a traffic stop in the area of Abington and Jefferson streets and Linwood was taken into custody without incident, police spokesperson Amy Dotson said in a news release. A handgun with an extended magazine was recovered from the vehicle, the release said. Linwood was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
On Sept. 3, Peoria police responded to a Shot Spotter alert of 12 rounds fired in the 1600 block of West Adrian G. Hinton Avenue. Officers found a man with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to contact Detective Corey Miller at (309) 494-8397, tip411, or Crime Stoppers at (309) 673-9000.
