Child fatally shot in Highview neighborhood Thursday night, Louisville police say

A young boy was found shot to death by police Thursday night in Louisville's Highview neighborhood.

Louisville Metro Police responded to the 8200 block of Sandidge Drive shortly before 10 p.m., where they found the boy, who is believed to be 5-8 years old. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The department's homicide unit is investigating the death. This marks Louisville's 177 homicide of the year.
