Central Ohio Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect who fired shots at a youth football game in the Hilltop neighborhood.

At about 1:56 p.m. Sept. 17, Columbus police officers were dispatched to the city's Hilltonia Park in the Hilltop neighborhood on a report of shots fired at a youth football game.

When they arrived, witnesses told officers that at the conclusion of the football game, an unknown juvenile male fired multiple gunshots into the air adjacent to the park in the area of 800 S. Wayne Ave.

Witnesses told police the shots were fired by a friend of a player who was earlier ejected from the game for fighting. No one was injured and there were no reports of anything struck by the gunfire, police said.

The suspect, who was wearing a white sweatshirt and dark-colored pants, was seen leaving the scene on a bicycle immediately after the shots are fired.

Central Ohio Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest and/or indictment of the person responsible for the gunfire. Call Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477 or go to their website at www.stopcrime.org and submit your tip. You may also submit a tip by downloading our new free P3 Tips mobile app available on the iOS and Android platforms, but Crime Stoppers is no longer taking tips via text message.

All tips to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and the nonprofit organization does not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations. A special coding system protects the identity of the caller. Crime Stoppers also takes calls from persons with information about any felony. Information leading to the arrest and/or indictment of a felony suspect could qualify the caller for a reward as determined by the Crime Stoppers Board of Directors.
