PETERSBURG -A Petersburg man is expected to be OK after state police said he was shot by a passing motorist on Interstate 95 in the city.
Shortly after 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Virginia State Police Sgt. Jessica Shehan said in an email, the unidentified 37-year-old man was driving his Dodge Durango on I-95 when it was hit multiple times by gunshots from a passing vehicle. The driver was hit in both of his legs, but Shehan said the injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The victim was able to drive himself to the Bon Secours Emergency Care Center just off the Southpark Boulevard exit in Colonial Heights and called authorities from there. Shehan said it has not been determined exactly where on I-95 the shooting occurred.
A description of the suspect vehicle was not immediately available. Shehan said an investigation is ongoing.
