Andrea Michelle Knabel, a single mom from Louisville, Kentucky, has been missing since Aug.

The family of missing Louisville mother Andrea Knabel said they have been in contact with Kentucky State Police after human remains were found in Boyle County on Friday.

Kentucky State Police were called to a scene in Perryville Friday night in reference to "possible human remains," and their initial investigation found "human skeletal remains" in a field off of Craintown Road, said Justin Kearney, a spokesperson for Kentucky State Police.

In a Facebook comment on the page "Finding Andrea," Erin Knabel, Andrea's sister, wrote her family reached out to state police after learning about the discovery.

"Remains were found on a farm and the woman seems to have been deceased for 3-5 yrs," she wrote. "... The detective working Andrea's case was made aware too. We will check back with them when they have more info. Dental records of Andrea's are similar to these remains."

Kearny said the remains were removed from the property and will be transported to the state medical examiner's office in Frankfort to be identified.

Police officials were not immediately available to confirm contact with the Knabel family Sunday afternoon.

Knabel has been missing since Aug. 13, 2019, when she was last seen walking along the 4000 block of Fincastle Road near the Audubon Park and Camp Taylor neighborhoods, at around 1 a.m.
