The Mets have signed catcher Michael Perez to a minor league deal, reports Mike Puma of The New York Post.

Perez, 30, played in six games for the Mets last season.

During his big league career, he has hit .174/.244/.301 in parts of five seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Mets.

The expectation is that Perez will begin the season with Triple-A Syracuse.
