The man was pursuing the woman around and inside a home under construction on Sailmaker Lane, according to the Sheriff's Office. Deputies said he ignored repeated demands to drop the gun and fired shots toward one deputy.
OCSO deputies returned fire. The man was struck and died at the scene. No deputies were injured, the Sheriff's Office said.
As part of the standard protocol for use of force investigations, the deputies involved will be placed on administrative leave, with pay, pending the results of an investigation.
The Sheriff's Office said additional details will be released at a later time.
