A second shooting on a highway in two days has police looking for answers.

The Virginia State Police were alerted to a shooting on I-64 near its intersections with King Street and LaSalle Avenue in Hampton at about 10:58 p.m. on Tuesday.

A blue Nissan sedan was headed west when a gunman in an unknown vehicle fired at their front passenger window, according to police. The passenger in the front seat was struck, but their injury is not considered life threatening.

This incident comes just over 24 hours after a gunman shot the front passenger of a vehicle while they were traveling north on I-264 near Freeman Avenue and Poindexter Street in Chesapeake.

VSP did not respond to a request for an update on the victims' status Wednesday morning. No suspects have been identified in either case.

Anyone with information about these incidents is encouraged to call Virginia State Police at 757-424-6800 or email questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
