When a single insider purchases stock, it is typically not a major deal. However, when multiple insiders purchase stock, like in Careteq Limited's (ASX:CTQ) instance, it's good news for shareholders.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Check out our latest analysis for Careteq

Careteq Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The Executive Chairman Mark Simari made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for AU$102k worth of shares at a price of AU$0.12 each. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of AU$0.091. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. It is generally more encouraging if they paid above the current price, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels.

Careteq insiders may have bought shares in the last year, but they didn't sell any. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!

Careteq Insiders Bought Stock Recently

Over the last three months, we've seen a bit of insider buying at Careteq. Executive Chairman Mark Simari shelled out AU$65k for shares in that time. It's good to see the insider buying, as well as the lack of recent sellers. But the amount invested in the last three months isn't enough for us too put much weight on it, as a single factor.

Insider Ownership

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Insiders own 17% of Careteq shares, worth about AU$1.9m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.

So What Do The Careteq Insider Transactions Indicate?

It is good to see the recent insider purchase. We also take confidence from the longer term picture of insider transactions. But on the other hand, the company made a loss during the last year, which makes us a little cautious. Insiders likely see value in Careteq shares, given these transactions (along with notable insider ownership of the company). In addition to knowing about insider transactions going on, it's beneficial to identify the risks facing Careteq. Our analysis shows 3 warning signs for Careteq (2 are concerning!) and we strongly recommend you look at these before investing.
