Simi Valley police investigate stabbing

A 55-year-old Simi Valley man was hospitalized Monday night after getting stabbed during a fight, police said.

Simi Valley police responded to the stabbing at 7:27 p.m. in the arroyo near Madera Road and Easy Street.

The victim was riding his bike in the area when he was confronted by a man and a woman. For reasons under investigation, the man and the victim got into a fight, which ended with the man stabbing him in the side of his abdomen. The man and woman then fled the scene.

The victim was transported to Los Robles Medical Center with a non-life threatening stab wound. Police searched the area for the male suspect, who was wearing a grey sweatshirt over a red shirt and a dark-colored cap but were unable to find anyone by that description.

Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to call Detective Chris Lam at 805-583-6959.

Attempted robbery suspects arrested in Ventura

Ventura police arrested two men Tuesday in connection with two attempted robberies this week.

In the first attempt, reported at 12:05 a.m. Monday, two suspects wielding handguns demanded money of two victims as they were taking groceries out of their car in the 100 block of Reata Avenue. The victims did not comply and the suspects fled to a parked car nearby and drove away.

The victim in the second attempted robbery, around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, said the pair knocked on their front door in the 5000 block of Shenandoah Street claiming to be security officers for the building complex. The victim refused to let the suspects inside and called the police.

Officers arrested one of the suspects in front of the building and apprehended the other as he tried driving away. Ventura police determined the suspects were also involved in Monday's attempted robbery

The two men, a 30-year-old from Oxnard and a 27-year-old from Los Angeles, were each arrested on two counts of attempted armed robbery and two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery. The Los Angeles man was also arrested on charges of violating his parole and being a felon in possession of a loaded handgun. Both were booked into Ventura County jail.
