Sheriff's deputies are searching for a man who escaped from the Hamilton County Justice Center Thursday.

An inmate is back in custody after he escaped from the Hamilton County Justice Center on Thursday morning by leaving through an open delivery door, the sheriff's office said in a statement.

Tyrone Edwards, 43, was working a kitchen detail and left through the loading dock door as he was taking out the trash, according to the statement.

Officials said Edwards left the jail around 6 a.m. and was recaptured in the 1500 block of West North Bend Road in College Hill around 9 a.m.

Edwards was in jail on a breaking and entering charge on a $10,000 bond.

Thursday's incident followed a series of escapes last summer which Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey called unprecedented. After those incidents, McGuffey said changes would be made to inmate procedures and additional security measures would be put in place.

The sheriff's office has not said if Edwards will face additional charges for the escape.
