A 17-year-old was killed Friday night after being shot multiple times on Yadkin Road, an official said.

The shooting happened about 7:41 p.m. in the parking lot of the Ponderosa shopping center, 5709 Yadkin Road, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

The male teen was in a vehicle near a Cashpoints ATM across Santa Fe Drive from McDonald's when the shooting happened.

He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries, police said. His name will not be released by police due to his age, according to an official.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective J. Olsen at 910-709-1958 or Crimestoppers at 910-483-TIPS (8477).

Friday's killing is the fourth homicide investigation, not including a fatal hit-and-run, in six days and the second on Yadkin Road in 2022.
