JaMychal Green admits wrist injury still hampering shooting originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
After posting career-low shooting numbers last season with the Denver Nuggets due to a wrist injury, Warriors forward JaMychal Green recently revealed it still is an issue this year.
"I've been fighting a little wrist injury, so it's been up and down, and it's very frustrating because I know what type of shooter I am," Green told NBC Sports Bay Area's Kerith Burke and Monte Poole on "Dubs Talk," following Golden State's 129-117 win over the Toronto Raptors on Friday at Chase Center.
"Just to get out of that slump and start seeing them go in, man, it does a lot to my confidence."
Green scored 10 points in 16 minutes on 3-of-5 shooting from the field with one 3-pointer and six rebounds in the win. He returned from a month-long absence due to health and safety protocols and a leg infection last Friday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and his presence immediately was felt -- despite his ongoing wrist troubles.
Last season in Denver, Green's shooting numbers dropped to a career-worst 26.6 percent from behind the arc after injuring his wrist in a fall on March 14. So far during the 2022-23 NBA season, Green is shooting 29.8 percent from beyond the 3-point line. His current 51 percent field-goal percentage, however, is the fourth-best mark of his nine NBA seasons.
During his introductory press conference with the Warriors in August, Green told reporters he was looking forward to improving upon his shooting numbers this season with Golden State after dealing with the wrist injury last season.
"It's all about reps and confidence," Green said at the time. "As long as I get my reps, I'll be good to go. I was just fighting through some things last year and just had a down shooting year. It's going to get up."
Green told Burke and Poole on Friday surgery is the "last thing" he wants for his wrist and that he treated his discomfort with a cortisone shot.
"It kind of needs rest for it to heal, so right now, I'm just playing through it and just making it happen," Green said.

With the NBA All-Star break fast approaching, it could be just the rest Green's wrist needs.
In the meantime, his Warriors teammates certainly must appreciate Green fighting through adversity to help his team on the court as they make a push for the NBA playoffs.
