LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Theresa Gevers and her husband, David Gevers, argued Monday night about her drinking, and Theresa Gevers shot her husband in the left knee about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office.
David Gevers told deputies he took the car keys to prevent his wife from driving impaired, according to the sheriff's office.
David Gevers taking the car keys angered Theresa Gevers, and she shot her husband with a .38-caliber handgun, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies arrived at the couple's home in the 2200 block of Staggerwing Lane in southern Tippecanoe County. They found Theresa Gevers standing by a vehicle outside of the house, according to the sheriff's office.
David Gevers was taken to I.U. Health Arnett Hospital for treatment, according to the sheriff's office, and his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Deputies booked Theresa Gevers, 64, into the Tippecanoe County Jail on suspicion of criminal recklessness. She remained incarcerated late Tuesday morning in lieu of a $500 bond, according to online jail records.
